Alessandro est un jeune homme de 22 ans, turbulent, fainéant et ignorant qui vit dans le Trastevere de Rome. Giorgio est un « poète oublié » de 85 ans. Alessandro accepte un nouvel emploi : accompagner le vieil homme dans ses promenades.
